I am seeking info on replacing the heating element on a Whirlpool dishwasher, Model #gu1200xtlb2. Any tips or info on what pitfalls or issues that I should be aware of? I can be reached at tdouglas@netzero.com.

Very rare these blow out, are you sure it is bad? Could be bad thermostat if it has one.

I am also having a problem replacing the heater element on Whirlpool Model GU3200XTPS0. There are two prongs on each end of the element and they are difficult to get out. I placed a screwdriver underneath the element and tried to pull up on the element but it is pretty tight. I don't want to break anything but according to the diagram they should just pop out of the socket. Any ideas on how to get the element out. I can be reached at rwright@netpath.com. Thanks for any comments.
