We have replaced heating element and thermostat , The dryer will dry for a few minutes then it throws e1 code and shuts off. I am able to restart and it will finish drying sometimes without throwing code again. has anyone had this problem or might know what the code might be for?

The E1 code does mean the thermistor is open, replace the thermistor. and you should be good to go.
