I have a Jenn Air SCE 70600W. The left display is dead (is the problem the touch pad or the ERC (circuit board - also called Surface Conroller [? ]that is behind the touch pad) ? The right side shows error code FF5 and beeps when I press: ON then HIGH on the conrol pad (pressing Medium or Low has no effect). The Oven works fine (control pad, clock, etc... are OK). The techinician did not do much diagnostics (with instruments - as I expected ) to positively identify the part (or component) and the cause of the problem on each side (left and right). However, he seemed convinced that replacing the Surface Controllers (left and right) will fix the problem. I would like to hear your expert / experienced opinions, and if you could tell me the reference code (part#) of the surface controller. Thanks, for your help.

Hi Jenny
The situation with the left side controller is more or less simple, the board has to be replaced and it's going to solve the problem. The situation with the right side is much worse. Most likely the touch pad is bad too and the touch pad is no longer available.
If you are going to follow your technician's recommendations, you'll probably end up waisted money paying for the both controllers with the range still not working properly. Forget about repairs and buy a new one.
Gene.

Hi Gene, Thank you very much for your pompt answer. Giving that the left was dead, and the right showed error code FF5 (as explained in the thread below). I swapped circuit boards (left --> right, and right --> left). now the right that used to show error code FF5 works fine, it means that its circuit board was bad. so the left had a good circuit board but the display showed nothing. so the problem could be with the touch pad? I am not sure what the touch pad is. Is here one for the left - center - and right? how to get to them? or is the touch pad the wole exteral bar that covers the front from left to right, on the back of which circuit boards are attached? If I can get a touch pad for the left side then I may be able to fix the range and save it from ending rusting in a recycling field.
with many thanks
