How do I access defrost timer to check it ... I don't want to break the plastic parts .. the on line blow up is not detailed enough? Also where on the diagrams is the defrost Thermostat on plate 4 / number 30?

The defrost timer is located in the roof panel of the fresh food compartment,You can remove the clear plastic light lens cover and access the defrost timer notched timer dial and advance it to any part of the cycle you wish.

If you wish to access the timer body itself , you will need to carefully remove the complete panel and access the timer from the inside of the panel.

Your defrost thermostat is located on the evaporator,
That is located, behind the back wall of the freezer compartment.

You will need to empty the freezer of everything and remove the back wall,

You will find the thermostat clipped to the right, top side of the evaporator assembly.

I have attached the service manual for a better explanation for you.
(concentrate on pages 30 through 35, that will answer both your questions for accessing the parts you wish to test).

I'm sorry but is it possible that my AMANA ARB220ZCW doesn't have a screw #20 plate #3 to remove the bulb cover because I cannot find one to remove ... how big is this screw supposed to be?

It's a pretty small screw,

If you look at the far end of the lens cover(#3) you should see an indentation in the center of the cover, the screw will be located inside of the indentation.

Once you remove the screw you pull down slightly on the end and use the "divots" on the front of the cover and push away from you to unlatch the lens cover.

Has someone worked on this unit before ?
They may have forgot to put the screw back in ?
