We're trying to figure out if this is worth repairing or not....the washer started making some strange squealing noises, and when I peaked through the crack under the lid, the tub was only spinning slowly, and there was a burnt rubber smell. The clothes were sopping wet. We figured it was the belt, but now we are now sure. Today we were looking at the agitator--I know it can be spun slowly by hand counter clockwise, and the whole tub will move. But, when we were checking it out today, I could take the agitator and easily spin it clockwise, as if it was loose; the tub didn't spin with it, only the top half of the agitator. We can't remember if we could do that before or not! Any advice?? Thanks!

is this a huge repair, or something that hubby can tackle if he had some guidance?

The model # given is for a dryer!!

My mistake, that's the right number. Remove the washer front panel and look for water marks from the tub seal area above the tranny. If so, this confirms bad bearing. If not, you may have something stuck in the tub that can be fished out with a coat hanger.
