Help! My dishwasher will only partially drain. There is always about 2 cups of water left in the back drainage area. I cleaned the white plastic strainer in the back but still no luck. Water fills the washer and it does drain out...just not completly. I have run the dishwasher empty with clorox as a cleanser in it several times with no luck of solving this problem. My husband poured 1/2 bottle of plastic safe/ plumbing safe Drano into the dishwasher with no results except after 4 empty washes...it still has a bit of drano mixed with water in the drain in the back!! Help!!... Absolutly cannot afford a Dishwasher repair person. My dishes come out smelling "fishy & sour" due to incomplete water drainage.  Thanks for any help anyone has. The first thing I would do is remove the pump and look for any obstructions. There maybe something down in the pump blocking the drain pump, basically timing the pump out, thus leaving water in the bottom to sour. Until you can get it figured out or repaired I would also wash the dishes by hand(have kids?), with dirty water in the bottom of the tub could also mean it isn't cleaning your dishes good enough(leaving dirty water on them)~just a suggestion!
