My Roper Electric Dryer quit working suddenly. Found open Thermal fuse. I jumpered it so I could test for the reason that the fuse blew. Tested a load of clothes and found extreme overheating . Cleaned out entire back, including the lint chute. Now it seems to run ok, but when the dryer stops at the end of the cycle, the timer keeps ticking and keeps moving. What do I check next?

Sounds like you have a defective timer, but you probably should get the thermal fuse too, not good to bypass thse that's a safety device.
