My GE refrigerator, GSS23KGSB, builds up frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment and stops freezing. No ice, either. Fridge side is still cool, but not as cold as normal. I unplugged it, let it sit 24 hours, plugged it back in and it worked fine for about two weeks, and now has stopped working again.

We live remotely and nearest service is 100 miles away (quote was almost $300 for a service call!) Any help would be appreciated.

Remove the back freezer panel and defrost the coils with a hair dryer. Most probable failure is the heater. If it is black inside with a gap, it's blown, just replace it, AP4355467
