Only the top shelf freezes. I don't know the model number or how old it is... I'd also like to know if it is worth fixing.

You have a serious refrigerant leak or compressor going sour that can be fixed, but it may cost up to $400 particularly if a bad evaporator, best to but your money toward a new one, they are not that expensive.
