Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 8/27/2008(UTC) Posts: 4		Last week the microwave stopped heating, but everything else was working fine (timer, fan, light etc). So I found out that the diode was bad and replaced it. It started heating perfectly. Today again, there is no heat, but everything else is working. What could be wrong, besides the diode? Did I just get a bad diode that shorted again? or is there something else that drove the diode out in 1 week? Please help.

Here is an update. I can't understand whats happening, something weird. I removed the new diode (that I thought had gone bad in 1 week), and got it replaced from the parts store. Before putting the 2nd new diode in I connected the original diode as an experiment, and the microwave started heating again!!! What I gather from this is that the original diode was fine, but the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the diode seems to bring the heating back to the microwave. Almost like something resets once the diode is disconnected and reconnected. Any ideas what might be happening? I also checked the magnetron and it appears to be fine.
