I noticed yesterday that some of my stuff in the door of the frige was warmer than normal. I noticed today, it's worse. It is now 62 degress in the frige and the freezer has seemed ok. I checked and the coils have no frost on them....and the "Click click and humm" I normally hear throughout the day is gone. There is some frose build up around the ice dispensor that isn't normally there either. My husband cleaned the dust out really well and bumped the compressor with his elbow and there was a clanking sound inside. He then moved it slightly back and forth and there is something clanking in there. Is it the compressor? and the coils are under the frige so how do we test for the defrost controller to be bad.

If you didn't have any frost build up it's not a defrost issue. The click click is normally the start device and of course the hum is the compressor running. If you don't hear the clicking it may be you start device is out. Depending on how long it's been doing that if not repaired soon enough a lot of times it take the compressor out. And the compressor if tilted will "clunk" the compressor is inside that "ball" suspended by springs. Nat

Measure the freezer temperature and post. Feel the compressor to see if it is running.
