Hi, I'm a newbie here, looking for help with my Jenn-Air range. It has not been heating on 'bake'. I removed the pan from the bottom of the oven in order to observe what is going on. When I select and enter the temp. on the control panel, the igniter comes on and glows bright red, but nothing else happens. I checked with a match and verified that no gas was flowing. I then selected 'broil' and the burner immediately ignited. Thinking I was on to something, I removed the rear panel and located the valve that switches between bake & broil. I set the oven for bake and rapped on the valve with the head of a large screw driver...lo-and-behold, the burner came on! I repeated this several times hoping to 'loosen' up the valve, but I have to rap it fairly smartly every time in order to get the gas flowing. It certainly appears that I need the "oven valve' (item no 20 in the gas control section of the parts list). I would certainly like to get concurrence on my diagnosis from the experts before purchasing this part. Does my diagnosis appear to be correct? Any chance the old val ve could be removed and repaired somehow. Thanks in advance for any help. Great Website!!

Sounds like the valve to me. As for repairing them....not that I'm aware of. I'd recommend replacing it. Nat
