I recently replaced the motor coupler, and now when ever the spin cycle stops the tub comes to a real hard stop

You have dragging brake shoes that will eventually burn out the motor or bust the coupler or tranny.
Go to my article in the general talk section "replacing direct drive brake shoes".
You should get the special spanner wrench for this job available at this parts site.

not since I've changed the coupler, but before that YES it did make some noises

That could be a couple of different things, check the brakes like rich stated above. Post what you find.
