Started with a whine a couple of months ago.

Whine has gotten progressively louder.

Now I have a whine and the sound of something (or things) rattling around.

Sounds like it's coming from the motor - although it's hard to place very specifically.

Is my fix to replace the motor? If so, is there a step-by-step anywhere for replacing the motor? Do I simply order the motor assembly AP3179651 or is there an assembly or mounting kit I need to order? As an inexperienced do-it-myselfer, am I jumping in over my head (aka buy a new dishwasher) or is this doable by a smart (usually) guy with a screwdriver?

Thank you

Pull the plastic panel off below the spray arm and look for objects near the pump inlet. If nothing, you will need to pull dishwasher and remove pump/motor. You can plug in the motor in an outlet to confirm bad motor.
