i have a hotpoint gas range that is running at a temperature well below what the erc is set at and showing on the display. the oven shuts off on bake or broil at temperatures well below (100 degrees or more) what the erc display is showing. After awhile the F2 error code appears. I replaced the erc and checked the resistance on the oven temp sensor 1100ohms at room temperature and even hard wired the sensor by passing the plug by using wire nuts. No change. What else could it be?

Did you check the resistance at the erc of the oven sensor, 2 white wires? I that is ok, and the erc is ok, next thing to check would be the self cleaning latch switches for corrosion of wires etc. Start self clean and once the lock light quits flashing clear it, then check oven operation. If the switches are ok, look for a bad ground at the wall outlet. Another reason for f2 although rare is EMI interference. Ham radios, cordless phones, that sort of thing.
