We have a GE electric range. This evening, we were preheating our GE oven and the bottom heating element made a sizzle sound and then got red hot in one spot on the heating element. It even made a small flame just in one spot. We noticed it right away and turned the oven off within about 15 seconds. We let it cool down a bit and then tried to turn on the oven again, but the heating element wouldn't get hot.
I believe that the heating element cracked. Does this sound right?
