I need to change the compressor but i cannot find the data plate that tells how much refrigerant it holds. Can you tell me the amount?

I don't have the exact amount of refrigerant you need to charge the unit, But, as best I can remember you're going to need 4 to 4.5 oz. (most 20 to 24 cubic foot top mount refrigerators used that amount of refrigerant. Another way to charge the system, is to use the low guage on your manifold. Slowly charge the system untill your low side guage is at 0(+or-3)and you will be properly charged. I hope this will get you through the repair.
