Sticky: read and tried to use your info but am confused. Was doing routine cleaning of compressor, cond. etc, when I noticed that it was not cycling. Do not know for how long. Freezer side was and still is well below zero. Frig side is minimum 40 near input vent at top and 55 more or less near the bottom. Yesterday removed plate over evap. Found small amt. frost near lower inside corner. No obstructions in freezer or duct to frige. Fan working properly. Heaters measured 18 ohms. Closed it up, reset the freezer control to minimum and fresh food to max. Let it run for 24 hours. Again, found freezer below zero and frig 40 to 50. Checked evap. again, still no ice. Read, again, your instructions. Seems the Temp control and Defrost timer are in the frig. and labeled Freezer control / Fresh food control. Have no idea how to test them. It would seem that with the controls in a warm frig, the freezer will run forever. Do not understand why but today when I reduced the fresh food control to half scale, the compressor shut down for the first time in three days. Came back on in about five minutes and is still running.

Thanks for a great site and any suggestions.

Was it clean or it had some thin snow? If it was a snow, how much of the evaporator was covered?

The model number you posted is incomplete.

About 95% was clean. Lower inside corner had some light frost.

Ref. Mod number. I did notice, on your site, there should be more letters. TFX25ZP is all I can find. The pictorial drawing in the parts section does differ slightly with this machine. The temp. and defrost controls are slides rather than rotating. Maybe some other.

checked evap. again this AM 8-04-10. Lower heater about 50% covered with what appeared to be snow. Remaining area both heaters almost invisable frost. Ran all night both controls MAX. Controls seem to have little or no effect. Freezer about 10 below. Food comp. 39 at best. Can feel little air flow.

Looks like there is a problem with the sealed system. It can be low on Freon or there is a restriction in the system. It has to be checked by a pro and can cost you $300+.

If that's the fix I will go for a new one. Insulation is terrible on this one which may be part of the problem. Insulation on a new one will probably be no better but that's where we have come to. Can everyone spell CHINA?

Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.

You are welcome. Don't by any fancy fridge like French doors or with electronic display on the door.
