Has the machine been agitating and spinning proper...yes
Weak motor windings...motor looks fine..like brand new
Stiff or seizing pump causing drag on the motor..checking
If you run the machine empty or with small load, does the odor occur..checking
How many loads done before the odor occurs..it has been working fine since the last post where I replaced the clutch spring/brake pads...about a month

So I checked the pump and I can spin it easily, although when I give it a turn it doesn't just keep spinning, but this seems normal..yes or no?
Also the motor has a bit of a rubbing sound when I spin it by hand but it spins very easily, so is this also normal?

Also the motor has a bit of a rubbing sound when I spin it by hand but it spins very easily, so is this also normal? Irish, Your pump is OK, were it seized up or dragging you would "feel" it, It's not designed to spin freely. It sounds as if the motor is OK as well, the sound could be normal, it could be the motor switch reacting to the spin action, it could also be the motor bearings, due to a slower than normal rotation(1725 RPM). I used to check the motor, with the motor out of the unit, hooked up to the wire harness, and put the unit in spin and let it run(you may want to put a rag around the shaft and see if you can put a "drag" on the motor to see what happens. Just be careful, don't short out anything or hurt yourself. I just hope this doesn't get into a gearcase problem. :cool: :cool: :cool:

OK...yes I think the motor is ok as well...washing a small load now (4 large towels) and no smell as of yet, in the rinse cycle now. I'm going to do a medium size load and see what happens.

OK, So the wife has done almost all of our laundry and there has been no issue as of yet...really odd...

Irish, I didn't really want to go here, But Do you have access to a clamp on amp meter ? Or a multimeter ? ( I'd prefer both) We may be able to get this thing diagnosed, or have a better idea of what's going on. With the multimeter, insert the probes into the unused outlet terminals, and get a base line voltage at the outlet, then start the wash cycle, check the voltage. Let the washer fill to maximum water level, check voltage when the motor starts, to see what kind of a voltage drop you may have( normally drops 2 to 5 volts, and only for a second or so). While the washer is agitating, clamp the amp probe around the white wire at the motor and check for an amperage reading(approximately 10 amps +/- 1) Do the same tests when the washer starts to spin/drain, you should have the same voltages and amperage readings once the tub is empty, and in a full spin speed rotation. If there is a mechanical problem, or an electrical problem, we should be able to determine where or what, once we get these readings. :cool: :cool: :cool:
