The unit is 3+ yrs. Worked fine untill yesterday. Freezer & fridge were found warm. Ice was all melted, and water dripped down to the bottom. It stayed unplugged over night, and was plugged back in this morning. It still stay warm. Compressor, freezer and fridge fans appear running fine. Compressor, and both incoming & return lines from the compressor are cool to the touch (but no sound from the compressor though). The coil near the compressor is slightly covered with dust (cannot do a complete cleaning due to its cylindrical shape) Please let us know what could be wrong, and what we can do to fix it. Can you please post the serial#. Also you say the compressor is running, but then you say you don't know. Put your hand on it and verify if it is running or not. I can help get it back up and running.

Did what you told. The compressor indeed does not make any noise or sound. The cooling fan for the coil near the compressor still runs. Also, the control board looks good (no burnt marks)
BTW, the serial no. is GG430590.

It appears this is a dual evaperator refrigerator. If indeed the compressor is not running, but everything else seems to run fine, IE. fans, lights. I am afraid you either have a bad compressor, or most likely a bad invertor board, not the main board you looked at, this invertor is located behind and to the left of the compressor, a spendy son of a gun. Part Details - GE INVERTER VCC3 FREE ST, part number: WR55X10504Now in the field when we come across this, this is what we do. order 2 invertors and a compressor. Plug in the new invertor if it starts your done, if not, the compressor and another invertor must be installed as a bad compressor will take out a new invertor. There is not a good way to determin if it is a compressor or invertor, thats why we order those parts. Your compressor runs off 12vdc, so you can not hook it up to line voltage to check if it's good or not. So because it is not economical for you to order all that as it is expensive, you will want to call GE to come out. You may be looking at a $400-$500 bill to fix but it is cheaper than a new refer and this route would be cheaper than just ordering the invertor just to blow it up. You can cross your fingers and hope it is the compressor as it is covered under a 5 year warranty. I hope this helps you in your decision.

One more thing, if that little 2 wire pin (red and white wire is not attached to the main board or the invertor, the compressor will not run, Just make sure that wire is attached at both places.

A tech confirmed today that the inverter needs replacing on our GE Profile Arctica, modelPSH23PGSA WV. He confirmed that the unit does not need a main board or compressor.
Can you recommend a source for a good price on an inverter?
My main question: How difficult is it to install this inverter for a person without appliance repair experience and what tools are needed?
