I replaced both water valves on the unit. I had to replace freezer/ice maker valve a second time as water wouldn't stop flowing into ice maker. After replaceing the valve a second time I now get no water to the ice maker to actually make ice. when i pour water into the tray by hand the ice maker does work and make/expell ice into the bin. Do I need to replace the whole ice maker or is there possibly something else goping on ?

Does the water dispenser work ?
(just wondering if you may have miswired the valves,it's wired correctly, if the water dispenser works).

Loose connections ?

Ice maker fill tube frozen ? (at back wall of freezer compartment).

I have to suspect, a problem in the ice maker "head" control,if all those checks are correct.

Remove the front cover from the ice maker,

you will see several labeled holes or openings in the mechanism body front plate.

You can check the water valve from the "head",if you wish:

(automatic module)
With an insulated jumper wire insert one end of the wire in the hole labelled V (for valve) and the other end in hole labelled L(for line), in some newer control heads you may have to go from V to N(neutral).
and the valve should activate and fill the icemaker.
(that will tell you the wires and the valve are intact and operating).
And you will need a new icemaker.

This is a live voltage test and you need to be careful !!!!

A manual module:

Will not have openings or holes in the plate and you will need to manually start the ice maker.

Put light pressure on the rake arm for a few seconds and it will advance into the test mode, and run a cycle.

Does your water dispenser on the freezer door work ?

If so that would be a good indication that the valve assembly is wired correctly and working.

Check for a frozen fill tube to the icemaker from the previous malfunction.
(the back wall of the freezer compartment),that would also keep the ice maker from filling.

You can start and run the ice maker:

make sure the interlock switch / door switch is activated

You need to remove the front cover of the mechanism.

Make sure the bail arm is down, and apply heavy pressure (downward - clockwise) to the rake arm,

In a few secondes the gear should start to rotate clockwise (on it's own).

The fill segment is at the end of the cycle (12 to 2 o'clock) rake arm position.

If all the reccomended checks and test are proper and still no fill I reccomend you replace the ice maker.
