when I didn't get a reply on the original thread I started looking on the web and found where someone had called Maytag and they came and fix it free. But that answer was 3 years old and i didn't know if Maytag still honored that fix for free. But I thought I could call and find out. I called Maytag and explained my problem and after a long pause they said they would send a repairman out in my area to fix it and he would be in contact with me. He came out and all I can remember(because my wife was there for the repair and I am going by what she said) is that he replaced a board in the back and then reprogrammed the front panel. He also made a comment that he hadn't seen one of these problems in a couple of years and thought they we all fixed by now. So Maytag may have a warranty on this particular problem you will need to call and see.
