Good morning:
I just purchased a replacement filter housing for my whirlpool side by side refrigerator. A local guy wanted $165 to do it so I decided to do it myself. The part number I ordered was AP3085317. I have a pretty simple question. How do I remove the two water lines from the back of the old filter housing? I would assume I would reverse the answer to connect the lines when the new housing arrives. Thanks for any help you can provide.
This all came about when I went to change the filter. I pulled out the old one but could not get the new one back in. I had been using a WF285 Aqua Fresh after market filter for a couple of years with no problems and had two new ones left. Neither of them would fit so I bought a genuine whirlpool filter for a higher price and it would not fit either. A technician said my housing was damaged so I bought one from the supplier of this forum.

Scott First, make sure the new filter fits and locks in place before installing the new housing. It appears that the housing you orderred has "John Guess" fittings. They are a "pressure release" fitting : press on the gray ring aroud the tube and pull out on the tube. Install the tube by inserting it into the fitting as tight as possible. and tug out on the tube to insure a proper seat and lock. It may be best to change 1 tube at a time, so you don't reverse them by mistake. Hope this is helpful.
