We recently purchased a motherboard for our GE side-by-side GSL25JFPABS from Appliance Parts Pros. Our fridge has had the issue, where the back coils in the freezer frost over and the fridge begins to get warm, water dispenser stops working and eventually the freezer gets warm too. We've been defrosting our freezer coils with a hairdryer every two weeks to keep the fridge functional. We've replaced the defrost thermostat, heater & bra. Neither of those fixed the problem.
So... we ordered the motherboard. On instructions it said to cut the j1-2 wire for our serial # prefix. When we plugged the fridge back in the fan and compressor didn't start. We reconnected the J1-2 wire and plugged everything back in and the fan and compressor started. While the fridge was running we pulled out the j1-2 wire and the fridge continued running normally. To put the cover pannel back on I unplugged the fridge. When I plugged back in the fan/comp didn't start. I reconnected the j1-2 wire and it started.
For now I have the j1-2 wire connected so if I unplug the fridge it will start back up. Am I missing something? Is it important to have that wire not connected? The instructions say to disconnect that wire on all Encoder models which I believe this one is but am not for sure. I do know that we have the serial number it RF2. We won't know for a week or so if the fridge is actually now working properly. So maybe we just need to wait it out. Advice?

hi, I cut the wire and the fridge is not working correctly. did you find out if it should have been cut or not?

What are the complete model and serial numbers of the refrigerator?

I also cut j1 and j2' the fridge won't cool enough now.
I cut them both very short. How can I repair j1 now. I can't splice it...
