Please help we are trying to replace the water filter and I pulled up the manual online it says to hit the release button and the filter should pop right out. Yet ours seems caught on something, I am able to pull it out about 1/4" but thats it and if i hit the release button at that time it sucks it back into the fridge instead of out! The fridge was here when we bought the house and we have never changed the filter prior to today. Thanks!

If this is a flat filter in the fridg section with the release button to the right of it, you might be missing some screws. Unfortunately, you will have to take the control panel out to fix this, not an easy job. Just checked, this is a Frigidaire refrigerator, probably with the flat filter. You will have to go to the Sears appliance parts site on line (just crunch in Google) to get a diagram that helps a little.
