Our fridge is less than 3 years old and about 6 months ago we had the same warm fridge problem. We called Whirlpool and they sent a service person who replaced the relay - not on warranty anymore of course:mad:

NOW, again the fridge and freezer are warm...what can cause the relay to burn out? What else could be causing this?

Please advise/help...Whirlpool is sending the same service person today and i would like to know the right questions to ask and be somewhat knowledgeable if I can fake it:rolleyes:

If the relay is gone bad again and it has been replaced about 6 months ago then it should be covered by a regular standard warranty which any service company should provide for a customer.

Then, if the relay is gone bad - the compressor is most likely bad too. The compressor should have 5 years warranty provided by Whirlpool as stated in the warranty certificate.

Thanks for the reply Gene. The Whirlpool serviceperson came yesterday....the compressor is dead.

FYI: the warranty on the relay they replaced in feb. was 3 months so if it was that again then we would have had to pay again. He said that the relay is fine this time...
