This oven was purchased in June 2003. It is a Whirlpool Self Cleaning Super Capacity 465 gas oven. Exactly 2 years ago the igniter went out and had to be replaced costing me $250.00. Now it is doing something different. The last time I had it fixed, the igniter would just keep clicking and never turn on. This time the oven will heat up to the desired temperature, but then when it needs to keep the heat up, you will hear the igniter click and the gas turn on, but then it immediately turns back off. If I then turn the temperature way, way up, like to 450 degrees when I'm trying to cook at 350, it will start heating up again all the way to the 450, but then it will not maintain the temp. Once again, you will hear the igniter go off, the gas catch it, then it will turn off. I am not very excited about spending another chunk of cash on this oven that I've already put money into. What do you think is wrong? Can my super, handy husband fix it or should I call the appliance repair place, again? Thank you so much!!

I have the exact same problem with the same model oven. I replaced the control panel after being told it was bad....don't do that because its still doing it. There is another circuit board called a spark igniter, but who knows if that is it.
