I have the article printed for using an analog test meter, but I don't know where to stick the leads onto the heater. I unplugged the refrigerator, and then unplugged the white wire going to the defrost heater. I stuck the leads on each male end of the heater(s) and got a reading of 10 on both. Please tell me what that means.

The upper part of the evaporator coils is frozen over, and the refrigerator side is not getting cold. I had found the air tube from the freezer to the refrigerator shut off yesterday, so I opened up. This morning the temperature inside of the refrigerator was 55 degrees.

Thanks!:)

All the evaporator coils should be frozen, measure the freezer temperature and post.

Sounds like your deforst heater to me...take your meter and put one leade on one side of the heater and the other lead on the other side of the heater and check for continuity

Your bigger problem, as I understand it, is refrigeration. Defrost all the coils with a hair dryer, then measure the freezer temperature and post.

Sorry for getting back so late. I followed the nice instructions on this forum, and by the process of elimination, it was the thermostat. Thanks for the help!!:D
