Hello-

My Whirlpool GD27DIXHB02 started making a click, followed by about 2-3 seconds of buzzing, followed by another click. I took off the back panel. The click is made by a little black box and looks like this capacitor: Part Number: AP3085822

The buzz is made by a white box on the left side of the compressor. It looks like something in here
Compressor start device kit - Kit includes relay, overlaod, cover and instructions.

Part Number: AP3873993

The compressor is warm. The fridge temp is 37 and the freezer temp is fine.

Do I need to replace the capacitor or is it just the compressor start device kit? Do these parts start to fail just before the compressor goes?

Would a picture help?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi-

What is the typical time for an official response? When I called on the phone they told me to post in this forum. I want to make sure I'm taking the correct approach.

Do I need to replace the capacitor or is it just the compressor start device kit?

Do these parts start to fail just before the compressor goes?

Thanks,

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
Remove the side cover of the compressor and pry off the start device. If it rattles when you shake it it's bad. Replace with the new start device. Very rare the run capacitor fails, so just plug it into the new start device.
