maytag bravo gas dryer problem

My maytag bravo dryer doesnt start. All the selections work and the indicator lights flash, but when I enter the drying time and press Start, the light flashes continually and beeps once to indicate the button's response. What could be the reason for this?

The first thing I would do is check the door switch as described in the Service manual.
