I have the above noted Whirlpool. The freezer is not keeping everything frozen, especially around the bottom of the unit. Ice cream/popsicles wont stay frozen but ice does. I have cleaned the compressor coils, checked the defrost coils (very little snow on the coils when checked) and made sure there is no dust on anything under the unit. I can hear the compressor kick on, occasionally it will kick on the shut off right away but if I unplug the unit and plug it back in, that solves the problem. The compressor fan runs 24/7 as I believe the defrost fan does also. The unit gets cold, drinks and everything in the refreigerator compartment are cold - so I don't think it's the compressor. Any ideas?

You probably have refrigeration problems. Measure the freezer temperature and post. Also, make sure the condensing fan in the back is running and condenser clean.

richappy,

Thanks for the response. I don't have a thermometor - but I can buy one if needed. I can tell you this, I put a bottle of water in the freezer last night around 8pm and I checked this morning at 8:30am and the water was half slushy half liquid. I have the settings for the temperature control at the recommended settings. Also, I have confirmed the condenser is working and the fan is running, in fact it runs 24/7. Yesterday after I cleaned the coils and removed the small back panelling to let more airflow, it was the first time in 2 months that the fan had shutoff.

Ice is freezing and staying frozen, but the rest of the freezer appears to not be getting cool enough.

You have refrigeration problems. Low refrigerant level or a weak compressor.
