I used the dryer a few days ago and it worked fine... I go to put a load in today and it does not "turn on" It is heating up and I noticed a red light (like a heating lamp) glowing in the back. The top of the dryer was getting warm. I can easily turn the drum myself but it does not turn when I turn the dryer on. Any suggestions?

If you turn the timer to dry, and the heating element comes on, without the dryer coming on it is most likely the motor. The motor switch is stuck, sending power to the element. In that case you need a new motor. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

If your dryer is less than a year old and is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, you should contact Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538
