Hi, I recenlty was given this washer from a coworker because she purchased a new set. There was never any problem with the washer before (at least thats what I was told) and it was working just fine for me for the past two months until recently. About 2 weeks ago, one night the washer just quit working. It was just starting the rinse cycle and once it filled with water quit working. I was able to get it to start again, but then it would quit at the start of the next cycle. After a day of messing with it I realized that I could get it to work by slamming the lid down and it would go through the complete cycle. Over the past two weeks, I have had to slam the lid down harder and harder to get it to work, and now it won't work at all. I removed the front to expose the lid switch, and it seems to be operational. The botton gets depressed upon opening and closing the lid. All the wires are intact and attached. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what may be going on. Is it possibly something internal with the switch?

This is pretty old machine, but a pretty good one. Your symptons sound very much like a lid switch problem so I would replace it and see if that cures things. Here is the part Part number: AP4026359
