Tony.the Freezer is only getting down to 28, the reefer is hitting 70, and hardly any air is coming from the freezer to the reefer side. I came home one day and found the door to reefer side slightly open and everything inside the reefer was ruined.

Deforster cycle works, no ice build up. What could it be?

Here are your parts

First you have to check if the compressor is running.
Should be warm, you should also be able to hear it and feel it vibrating.

If it is running and the freezer temperature will not drop then you may have a freon leak/low freon condition.
Remove the evaporator coil cover and check them. If you only have frost in one area then is probably low freon.
You will need a pro to fix this and it will not be cheap, probably better off investing those dollars into a new unit.

If it is cycling could be your thermostat is shot.

Also check that the evaporator fan is running.

Check the condenser fan is running and the condenser coils are clean.

Thanks. denman.

All of the conditions you mention were verified, and coils are clean. However, we didn't check for low freon. I'll pull the cover off the back of the freezer side and check for frost. It is frost decycling fine.

A) is the freon 12 or 22, are are their fittings to allow for adding the freon (lie on an A.C system) or is a special tool needed?
B) Is there a reason very, very little air is coming from the freezer side to the reefer side at the opening up top on the left?

Thanks again.
