Upon examining the cold control thermostat, I noticed three plug in type connectors which would be no problem for me to install on the new thermostat. Coming from behind the cold control, is another wire that has a metallic appearance to it. To me , it looks like that wire would have to be cut and the wire from the new control soddered to the old one. Is my assumption that this wire would have to be soddered correct? Basically, I want to install a new cold control thermostat. Thank you in advance for your expert guidance. Michael:)

DO NOT cut that, it's your sensing wire that needs to be routed where the old one was.
