I called customer sales/service to order a new door handle and said that I saw the thread below on your Repair Help area, but no answer to the customer's question. I asked if your company would please give me instructions on how to use the $61 part I ordered. Will someone please contact me with instructions? I have read the post below but can't seem to find a reply to it for me to follow. I was very up-front with Carey the Sales Rep that I am a housewife and will need help on how to install the door handle replacement part that I ordered today.

Thank you.

Repairing microwave door handle
Model Number: JVM1340BW002 Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
I have a GE Spacemaker XL microwave oven whose door handle is broken. I have ordered a new handle and bracket from your company, but it is not at all clear to me how I can take apart the door and then install the new parts. Would you please send me instructions on how to do this.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

I was able to replace the broken door handle in about 10 minutes. Here are the steps:

1) Open microwave door
2) in the upper right hand corner (nearest to door hinges), use a
flat blade screw driver and pry gently with a down and out motion. See
attached photo.
3) The inner plastic ring will begin to pop out, usally on the sides.
4) Gently pull the plastic ring out from the center on all sides - be careful
not to break the tabs.
5) Unscrew bottom left screw to release bottom of the door handle.
6) Unscrew top left screw to release top of door handle.
7) Screw in new door handle. NOTE - the bottom screw is a self
tapping screw that turns into the plastic door handle. The bottom
of the door handle is not pre drilled. Screw this in SLOWLY and do
not over tighten.
8) Replace inner plasic ring - Good luck!

I want to thank you so VERY much. I was very intimidated and your photo and careful instruction truly helped me accomplish this.

Again, a million thanks!

I have been sitting on the door handle repair for about two weeks because I could not figure out how to do the repair, and did not want to spend over $75 to have an in-home repair done. Your one photo made the repair perfectly clear..thank you for your generosity in posting it! Took minutes once I knew how!

The repair is easy once you know to take the back part off, but this wasn't intuitive. Thanks for posting the repair.
