Dryer heats and dries clothes like always. Timer will not advance during cycle. Replaced timer and problem presists. Whats up???

A model number may help others help you.
Also does is not advance in both timed dry and auto modes.
I timed dry most units get power directly.
In auto modes many units only get power thru the heating coil when it shuts off.
A grounded element will often prevent the timer from advancing but you may still get heat. Check the heating coil. Unplug the unit and both wires to the coil. Check it with a meter, should be around 12 ohms. Then check from each side of the coil to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not the coil may have sagged or broken and is touching the case. |
