My dryer won't start all of a sudden. I close the door, set the timer knob and then press the start button. I hear a click when I press 'Start' and then an electric 'hum' for about 10 or 15 seconds and then another click. I'm guessing the motor won't turn, but I'd appreciate an experienced opinion. I took the dryer apart, the belt looks good no cracks or signs of wear, the rollers look good -they both spin freely, I can turn the blower by hand, but it doesn't spin easily -I have to push it around to get it to turn. Can somebody help me with a diagnosis?

The motor is bad. No doubt about it per the symptoms you described. - The part number for the motor is AP3094245 Here are the break down diagrams for the Estate dryer Model TGDS780JQ1Gene.

Gene - Thanks a lot for your reply, I really appreciate your expert opinion. I have ordered the motor and a replacement roller (instead of the 'glide' that came standard). I hope to have it swapped out and running again tomorrow night. Thanks again!

Is there an easy way to get the blower wheel off the old motor?

Using an adjustable wrench, put it on the blower wheel at the panel side and turn the motor shaft CW.
Gene.
