Light Switch on Door - Freezer has 3 connectors Fridge has 2 WHY?

I have a Frigidair side by side that will be the death of me (LOL) and is not working.
The light was not working in the freezer, so i tool the light switch from the bottom of the fridge side and moved it to the freezer side and it worked perfectly.
While i was there i noticed that the fridge door switch only has two cables attached to it while the freezer has 3.
What is the 3rd for and can i bypass it? Can i connect two wires together to bypass it? Could this have any affect on the unit working at all. I am reaching for stars here.

Could not find info on your specific unit but on other Frigidaire's the 3 wire switch is wired into your icemaker/dispenser control board. Not sure what they are using it for but if they could get away with a 2 wire switch they would.
Replace the switch with the proper part.
A 2 wire is a Common and a Normally Open contacts. A 3 wire is a Common and a Normally Open (light control contacts) and a Normally Closed. The Normally Closed is going to the dispenser board so it is turning something off when the door is opened. |

Can I temporarily connect it to one of the other two to jump it maybe? Kinda like bypassing the thermostat?
The fridge doesn't work so I don't want to sink any money into it if it is dead.

Can I temporarily connect it to one of the other two to jump it maybe? You could but I do not know which wires should be shorted together as I do not have a wiring diagram for the unit. You would want to short the Common to the Normally Open. The unit will then think that the door is always closed. I am not sure what effect this will have other than the freezer light will not work. |

i was thinking - maybe it is the cut off for the ice and water in the door when the freezer is open - that would make sense. Do they stop working when the fridge side is open too?
