I ordered replacement studs for a broken shelf stud in my refrigerator, but in the meantime I tried moving a stud from a gap-cover strip behind the shelf so I could use the shelf in while waiting for the replacement parts. When I push it in, it doesn't sit snugly against the refrigerator cabinet; it hangs out a bit as though it's not securely in the seat. I saw in this forum another DIYer was having the same trouble, apparently with a new stud. Is this supposed to happen, or is there a way to make sure the stud fits all the way into the hole?

When you remove a stud, the metal prongs bend. You need to pry them out a bit so when you put it in the metal prongs will grip the side properly.
