I have a Frigidaire Stackable washer/dryer. The washer will not turn on unless the dryer is on. And even then, the washer only fills up with water and does nothing else. So basically the washer does nothing at all unless the dryer is on. I tried replacing both the Dryer and Washer timers but that did not help. Please help!!

I am not suprised that the problem was not in the timers, I think you have some frayed or melted wiring insulation which has shorted out some circuit. Your machine uses one of the 120v lines coming in to operate the washer and that is what is probably being shorted out.

Unplug the machine and use an electric test meter to check for continuity on the wiring. Use the wiring diagram in this service manual as a guide. Your type of problem is sometimes very difficult to find, and a new wiring harness may be the only solution if you cannot find the problem.
