My GE Spacesaver microwave is dead. I diagnosed a bad capacitor and idode. I have the parts but have forgotten how the diode is connected!

One end is grounded to the capacitor bracket, where does the other end go?

( I'm really quite handy, but I lost my disassembly notes)

thanks,

mike

The diode goes to the same side of the cap as the red wire.

I thought there were two red leads to the cap.
To be safe can you describe how both cap and diode are connected?

i thought the each of the two red leads went to the two separate cap leads. do both reds go to the same cap lead and the diode to the remaining one?

thanks ,

mike

I'll need the model# to check, but there should be a red and white wire and the diode would go to the red wire side. Get me the model# and I'll look at the schematic

ok, I checked, if you have 2 red wires the diode will connect to the side with the red/black wire, the other red is hooked up to the other side of the cap by itself. So basically you will have the red/blk wire on one side of the cap, diode on the same side, and solid red on the other sid of the cap.
