I have a problem that just started. When I select any area within the timer range dial, the dryer automatically turns on without having to hit "start". Also, the timer now chooses to have an eternal "buzz" instead of a 5 second buzz when the load is finished. And the dryer will turn itself on....the dial will move to the next clockwise selection area and just start up again.

I wasn't sure if the problem was isolated to the timer....or the "start" switch....or maybe somewhere else?

Thanks for any thoughts....

Hi Marcy

Seems like you could have multiple problems. You are probably going to have to replace the timer, and you may have to replace the motor or something else so since your dryer is over 10 years old you may want to think about a new one.

If you want to try and fix it, please post your model number and any other pertinent info other than what you have provided.

Thanks, and good luck.

From what your saying alone it sounds like the Start switch is sticking ON.. meter it and see..

Maybe the end-cycle beeping is also the same beep when you start it and because it's stuck ON the machine never stops..

I can't find your model number but is the start button separate? If so try un-plugging one of the leads on the back of the button itself..

STEPS:

un-plug the machine from the wall..

put some electrical tape around the leads on the start button and leave one loose so you can pull it off once the machine is started.. (rubber gloves won't hurt)

plug it back in and get the machine started..

un-plug one lead.. keep it away from the frame.. and the other wire of course..

Let it run the full cycle..

IF it stops at the end of the cycle and doesn't re-start like your saying then you just found the problem..
