Anyone know what controls how much water gets put into the icemaker and at what time? I have a Maytag refrigerator and the icemaker went nuts and filled the freezer and the floor with water. It seemed as if it just kept dumping water into the icemaker. I don't know if it could be a valve of some sort or the icemaker itself. Any suggestions?

I would suspect the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in. It may have stuck open or be slow to close.

Well I replaced the water inlet valve and my icemaker still has not made any ice. The water just trickles into the icemaker and does not fill it. The lever is in the "on" position but nothing is happening. I believe it may be just the ice maker that is bad but I have no idea. I would appreciate any other suggestions if ya got um.

Disconnect the water line going into the new valve and then flush the line out into a bucket to make sure you have good pressure and check the wire mesh screen where it goes into the valve.
You can also disconnect the line that goes to the ice maker and see how the water comes out there by swapping the wires on the valve and depressing the dispenser switch.
