Our garrbage disposer has apparently died. It has worked without a hitch since we bought our house (4 years ago - the disposer was presumably installed when the house was built - 1997). It did not stop in mid-use, but rather simply will not turn on when the wall switch is flipped (unit is hard-wired into our electrical system). This was not preceded by any unusual noises or jamming. I have checked it for jams (none), I have worked the allen wrench (blades are freely turning), I have checked the circuit breaker (fine), I have pushed the reset button on the bottom of the unit -- all to no avail. Has the engine simply died? Can that happen when the unit is not even turned on?

Thanks in advance for the advice.
