The washer won't stop filling. I can turn it on, and manually start it, and when i push the knob in it stops, but if I let it run, it will overfill and leak all over the floor. I switched the load size to medium, with the same problem, but when i put it to small, no water came out at all. Is there some type of sensor in the machine which determines the water level, or does the timer do it? If it is the timer, can i replace just taht part?

Most likely the problem is a bad water level switch (inside the control panel). - The part number for the water level switch is AP2045895 Good luck. Gene.

some times detergents can clog the pressure switch hose at air dome at side of outer tub at left side.

I have a similar problem with our GE.Water only trickles in at best and continues to trickle even if the washer is off or unplugged. It also will not keep from spinning during the drain cycle and water keeps trickling in. As the tub starts to spin (full) water continues to trickle in and it overflows onto the floor. This is our landlords machine and I have fixed it and the dryer before. Any clue??

Most likely the problem with your washer is a bad water inlet valve.
In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the washer.

Thanks for the reply! I have no idea what the correct names of parts are, but I am usually pretty good at troubleshooting (although this is not my forte') I took off the hoses and removed a blue module with screens and diaphrams. The screens were all but closed off due to crust build up. I rinsed and cleaned them and I'm going to try to install once again. Will this also fix the problem with the tub wanting to spin during the drain cycle???

The part which you removed is the water inlet valve.
I do not think the cleaning will do any good. The part has to be replaced.
If you need the right part number I still need the complete model number of the washer.
The inner tub should spin at this time.

I hooked it all back up and turned the water back on. I now have no water coming in when there shouldn't be. I'll get everything ready for a test spin and let you know how it goes. I'll get the model # from the service sheet just in case. Thank so much!

The model number is on the name plate attached to the cabinet on the bottom left side.

Everything seems to be fine except that it is rinsing in hot water instead of cold. Could this just be a mixed up wire?? I hooked everything back up the way that I took it off, but since we weren't getting hot water to start with It could have been wrong to start with.
