My machine recently started to leave clothes soaked even after the "spin"cycle. It seems to be an intermittent problem. When I did find it not spinning I helped it start. it spun but at a slower than normal rate. I was able to stop it with my hand. Agitates fine. any suggestions

From what you describe, and assuming agitation is fine and nothing else is a problem you would seem to have a classic clutch problem.

Here is a site that will take you through the replacement.

Clutch Replacement on Whirlpool and Kenmore Washers

Good luck, let us know if this was the problem.
