Noticed Christmas eve my my side by side, freezer side had ice build up and my popcicles were melting, the fridge was warm.Turned it off it did it again by morning. The fan seems to be working but the compressor is not coming on,

Locate the defrost timer and turn till you hear a click, and check for the defrost heater coming on.
Pull off the back panel in the freezer and see if the coils are frozen over completely, if so just thaw them out with a hair dryer. Probably just failed defrost heater, just check.
