2ND time this happens. The washer filled and overflowed onto the floor. The agitation cycle did not start. The washer was set for extra large load but had only some small towels the size of a medium load. The First time it happened a month ago, it was washing a large load. Neither load was over-loaded.
My husband feels it could be the way I pull the start button?

I strongly doubt this This will be a pain to find since it is intermittent. It could be either a sticking water valve or a bad water level system. If the only way to stop the overflow was to shut off the taps then it is probably a sticking valve. Replace the valves. If unplugging the unit or turning it to off stopped the overflow, then it is probably the water level. The water level switch is a pressure switch. As water rises in the tube attached to the switch (goes to the bottom of the tub), the air pressure increases in the tube. When that pressure equals the set pressure of the switch, it shuts the water off and starts the wash cycle. Could be that something is caught between the inner and outer tub and is blocking the tube once in a while. Could also be that the switch is intermittent or that the tubing is leaking once in a while. I would replace both of them. |
