Water is slowing freezing in the inlet and then eventually starts overflowing and freezing inside the freezer with significant build up.
Do we have a value problem or a switch problem?

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube. The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

Have already checked the flow tube at the inlet of the ice maker. There is no leak, watched for an hour while cleaning all the ice out. The icemaker will fill the tub full of ice. Sometime after this, the inlet flow director just before the ice cube holder freezes up. The ice maker continues to cycle. The water flows over the inlet of the icemaker into the freezer.
